Show Notes Transcript Chapter Markers

In this episode we're talking about personality type A, otherwise known as the Day / Swing Trader. We discussed the pros and cons of a type A investor. These individuals are of a highly independent nature, their ambition to leave their mark in this world singles them out. They are self driven, and they know the importance of goal setting, positive thinking and motivation. They are competitive by nature, and are highly time conscious. They are also prone to cut people off while the other speaks and have been shown to have a low tolerance for incompetence.

We had mentioned that we didn't want people to get confused on this. This type A personality is the same as the A player. But after reading this, they're pretty much the same. They just happen to be coincidental, it's very close since they have similar traits. Other characteristics that sets this personality type apart is the fact that they always need to be doing something - standing in lines or waiting for the bus is a punishment. All they can think of is how much time they are wasting and how they could have been doing something worthwhile. Individuals of personality type A are risk takers, which characterizes an entrepreneurial spirit, they do have the ability to put on the veil of practicality to solve a problem as and when it is required. The secret of these successful people is that they don't balk onto the requirements and necessity of change, which eventually makes them what they want to be.

It ended up with Dani being 98% when it comes to being a type A personality while Flip had it 50-60%. This is a nice activity as husband and wife or business ownership / partnership. Because we're going to show how different we are but it is also the reason why we work so well together. And it's why we live together without killing each other.

Hey everybody! Flip and Dani here, founders of the Freedom Real Estate Group Family of Companies. And welcome to another episode of our podcast, which is called Freedom Through Passive Income. That's right, and welcome to another episode. And this is part of our series, this episode is entitled, How Your Personality Dictates Your Returns. And this is Type A. Yes, yesterday, we talked about the introduction to this series. And so you're gonna want to go back to that if you want a little bit more idea of what we're talking about. But through this next four episodes, we are literally going to be reading type A, B, C, and D. And your job is a listener, or a viewer, depending on how you're watching. Or listening. Watching or listening to this podcast, you're at the end, we're gonna be talking about how much it applies to us, our percentage level, and you're gonna want to do the exact same thing, because in the final sixth episode, we're going to be putting it all together. Right. And helping everybody have a better idea of their personality type and their risk profiles, and how that affects the investment vehicles they want to invest in and how that interprets into the rate of return based on your risk profile.

Okay, so this is all about personality types. That's the core of this message. Right now we're talking about personality type A, otherwise known as the Day / Swing Trader. All right, I'm gonna read the first part, Flip's gonna read the second, then we're going to do a little bit of talking about how it applies to us. That's right. Ready, Flip? Yup. All right. So these individuals personality type A are of a highly independent nature, their ambition to leave their mark in this world singles them out. They are self driven, and they know the importance of goal setting, positive thinking and motivation. If you're interested in studying someone who falls under this type, choose one from the ranks of business leadership. They are competitive by nature, and are highly time conscious. They are looked on as people who are impatient and could be easily prone to hostility, aggressiveness and rudeness. They are well known for their sharpness in getting to the heart of the matter in no-nonsense and blunt terms.

So other characteristics that sets this personality type apart is the fact that they always need to be doing something - standing in lines or waiting for the bus is a punishment. All they can think of is how much time they are wasting and how they could have been doing something worthwhile. Speaking of which, they are lost without their day's activities planned. It's not surprising for people to refer to them as being workaholics. In fact, they find it difficult to simply relax or even fall asleep quickly at night. They are also prone to cut people off while the other speaks and have been shown to have a low tolerance for incompetence. People who fall under the Type A personality types are prone to suffer from hypertension, stress, heart disease and social isolation. I hate that last line, they even included that. That's like the side effects of the drugs on TV. The side effects seem worse than the actual issue. So it's a very interesting personality type Dani. It is. In fact the first time that I read out my part you were laughing so hard. I think you were crying. I swear my face turned red, I was laughing so hard. Yeah. You know, I wish I could explain to everyone, both of you that are listening, that the part of the, this is all they can think of is how much time they are wasting or they're standing in lines or waiting for the bus as a punishment. That line. That ring home so true and so funny that I could barely get that one out. Because I just if you, if it's like a five minute wait, you're like I'm gonna go do something else. I'm out of here. I'm so impatient. Yeah. That is true. It's just you know, calling, gosh, when we were getting ready to move down here I called up the one of the energy companies to change everything over and this is your approximate wait time is 42 minutes, you know, and I'm just like, well, I just put it on speaker and did other things, you would have been click, hang-up. Who else could do this for me? Yeah.

So what do you think Dani on the Type A personality? Oh man, like you said, before we recorded this, we're just reading it through and you know just making sure we had our mind about us as we prepared for this episode. And I was giggling and laughing so hard and just wanting to raise my hands in the air going, this is me, this is me. Because it is, like, and I'm a little embarrassed that I was even, it's me when it says, there are people who are impatient, they can be easily prone to hostility, aggressiveness and rudeness. That is the bad side of Dani 100%. Because I can get, when I go red, I go red and I go red hard. And I'm not the nicest person in the world, when especially dealing with people who are what I would view incompetent. I'm like what the frick is wrong with you? And I get that attitude. And I get it so quick sometimes, depending on the stress level that I'm in, I'm much better now the stress level has been reduced. Yes. But during the working years, us building these businesses, I have been a jerk, sometimes. You're about to laugh your butt off. Because he's been around for it. I was thinking of a joke I told yesterday, that's all.

But it's just very true, that this personality type, I'm going to put my percentage on it. I can't even remember what the other ones are. Because we're prepping for each episode as they come. So without looking at the other ones. I'm just going to say on flat out 100%. This is me, the good and the bad that comes up, comes with type A, it is just me. It's who I am. And I embrace who I am, the more I've learned about who I am, the more I've just said, Hey, this is me. If it's me, do it, do you. And don't be afraid or embarrassed. Although I am a little embarrassed about that. Don't be shy about being who you are. Because there's so much strength in that personality type. Yes, there's some bad to it. But there's a lot of strength to it. So I embrace the strength. And I really try hard not to let the embarrassing, you know, tough parts of that personality type, you know, rear its ugly head. And I do get better, the more I surround myself with great people who allow me to kind of elevate me and put myself where I should be. So now your turn. Well, I did want to say yesterday, I had mentioned that I didn't want people to get confused on this. This type A as being, you know, as the same as the A player. Yeah. But actually, after reading this, they're pretty much the same. They just happen to be coincidental. Yeah, it's very close. Because this is something different. Yeah, similar traits.

So I did happen to notice that they put little, five little things of the type A person ambitious, competitive, practical, and impatient, aggressive. So I think you checked off five boxes. I did. I did. Yes. Yeah. I think I'm, out of those three, I'm three of those. Out of those five, I'm three out of those five, because I am patient, and I will you know, because one thing we've learned about when we moved to Florida, is that the traffic here is a million times worse than anywhere else. Anywhere. And even you Atlanta, I'm looking at you. But I'm on the road, you know, every day. Yeah. And the little drive 13 miles to take our dogs to the kennel. And I'm back an hour and a half later, you know, but I'm patient, I'm cool. Yup. I'm listening to music, which we're going to talk about in a few episodes, apparently. Yes. You know, so it's, uh, yeah. So there's the aggressive, I'm not really the aggressive. No, no. No, in fact, usually, if I ever am aggressive, I make myself laugh. But no, that's awesome. I love it. And I would say, I'll characterize you out of those five, you're definitely, you checked all five of those boxes. But you're not, I wouldn't say you're 100%. You're like 98%. There's some things in there that you're not. Yeah. Yeah, okay, alright. I'll be honest. Thank you for that. I appreciate that.

This is a nice, like, also husband, wife and business ownership, partnership. This is really cool. Because we're going to show how different we are. It's why we work so well together. And it's why we live together without killing each other. Because I'm impatient, but you're patient. So the tasks that require patience go to you. And sometimes the tasks that require confrontation and aggression go to me, because it's just right up my alley. Yup. I'm not afraid of it and I'll just dive in. So it's really a nice marriage of things. So are you going to say you're gonna give yourself a percentage at all, for you personally? Well, like I said, I'm gonna go with a three out of the five. So that's 60%. Okay, that would be interesting. The way that you're doing it because what if you're all five for another one. Now your 160%. Well, I'll figure that out. So you're doing this with us. But I would definitely say I'm 50 to 60%. Okay. All right. So I'm going to. I'm giving it a range. I'm sitting here and this is, you know, we're doing this with you, right? We didn't read the other three, we have because I prepped for this episode a long time ago, when I printed it out and said, I want to do this episode, where it's one of the many I want to talk about, but we haven't read the other three today. So I'm gonna write this down on our piece of paper so that you guys can kind of follow along with us and play the game with us, you write it down on your piece of paper. So I'm putting Dani is 98%. And you are saying Flip you are? I'm 50 to 60%. 50 to 60%. All right, we're gonna see how this plays out. Because I'm putting it all together, we're actually going to talk about all the personality types and what we put for percentages and what we really think where we land. Alright? I love it. So um, real quick before we go, how this applies to investing? Right. Because that's really what we're talking about. Well, actually, we're going to add that into the putting it all together. So we're going to take these type ABC, so we don't make these too long. We're going to take these ABCD and we're going to talk about how each one applies to investing in the last episode. That's sound good? Love it. All right, let's roll out Flippy.
